Tom Simmons

Founder & CEO at The Supplant Company

Tom Simmons has a diverse work experience in various roles and companies. In 2013, they started working as a Postdoctoral Research Scientist in Biochemistry at the University of Cambridge, where they also lectured for a Bioenergy course. In 2016, they became the President of EPOC, and at the same time, they joined the World Economic Forum as a Global Futures Council Fellow. In 2017, Tom founded their own company called The Supplant Company and became the Founder & CEO. Tom also began working as a Lecturer, Mentor, and Agritech lead at the Cambridge Judge Business School. Throughout their career, Tom has had a strong focus on biochemistry, sustainable biofuels, and food manufacturing.

Tom Simmons completed their education with a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Biochemistry from the University of Leeds from 2006 to 2009. Tom then pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Molecular Plant Science from The University of Edinburgh, which they completed from 2009 to 2013. Later, from 2015 to 2016, they attended Cambridge Judge Business School and obtained a Diploma in Entrepreneurship.
