Mike Warthen has over 20 years of work experience, primarily in the healthcare industry. Mike started their career as a Chaplain Resident at Scott & White Memorial Hospital and Clinic in 1996. From 1997 to 1999, they served as a Pastor at First Baptist Church. Mike then worked as a Chaplain at Holy Cross Hospital from 1999 to 2001, providing direct patient care and addressing spiritual and emotional needs. From 2001 to 2006, Mike worked as the Director of Pastoral Care - Chaplain at US Bariatric, where they offered pastoral care and counseling to patients and their families undergoing weight loss surgery. In 2006, they became a Bariatric Program Specialist at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital. Finally, in 2007, they joined Surgical Review Corporation as Product Development Director.

Mike Warthen has a diverse education history. Mike obtained their Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering Technology from Troy State University in 1989. Mike later pursued a Master of Divinity (MDiv) degree in Theology/Theological Studies from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, which they completed in 1996. Additionally, they completed 5 Units of Clinical Pastoral Education at Scott & White Memorial Hospital in 1997. Mike Warthen also holds several certifications, including being a Board Certified Chaplain from the Association of Professional Chaplains and an ACPE Certified from the Association of Clinical Pastoral Education, both obtained in 2001. Mike is also a Pastoral Care Specialist certified by the American Association of Pastoral Counselors in the same year.
