Vice President, Nonclinical Development and Project Leader at Surrozen

Jay Tibbitts has a strong background in the pharmaceutical industry with experience in nonclinical development, project leadership, and oncology DMPK. Jay currently holds the position of Vice President of Nonclinical Development and Project Leader at Surrozen since July 2021. Previously, Jay served as the Director and Group Leader of Oncology DMPK at AbbVie from September 2017 to October 2019. Before that, they worked as a Senior Director of Nonclinical PK-PD at UCB from September 2012 to September 2017, where they led a team of senior-level scientists and implemented strategic changes. Jay also held the role of a Senior Scientist/Group Leader at Genentech from May 2004 to November 2012, where they led projects involving nonclinical PK/PD of Antibody Drug Conjugates. Prior to that, they were a Senior Scientist II at XOMA from 2002 to 2004, responsible for pre-clinical and clinical pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic studies. Jay began their career as a Senior Research Scientist at Pfizer, Inc from 1998 to 2002, where they specialized in ADME and DMPK analyses. Before entering the pharmaceutical industry, Jay worked as an Associate Veterinarian at Country Vet Services from 1988 to 1992, providing medical care for animals. Jay also completed an internship at Johns-Hopkins University in 1987.

Jay Tibbitts earned a Ph.D in Biopharmaceutical Sciences from the University of California-San Francisco Department of Biopharmaceutical Sciences, completing their studies from 1992 to 1998. Prior to that, they received a D.V.M degree from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine, where they studied from 1984 to 1988. Jay Tibbitts started their education with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Chemistry from Bowling Green State University, graduating in 1984.
