Director Of Technology at Surry County Schools

Lucas Gillispie has a diverse work experience in the field of education technology. Lucas started their career as a Teacher in Surry County Schools before moving on to Topsail High School. At Topsail, they taught various science subjects and also sponsored clubs. In 2007, they became an Instructional Technology Coordinator at Pender County Schools, where they conducted needs assessments, provided training, and supported the development of district plans. In 2011, they worked as an Instructional Designer (Consultant) at GoGo Labs, focusing on the design and development of game-based learning programs. In 2014, they joined Surry County Schools again, this time as the Director of Digital Learning and Media. In this role, they provided guidance on education technology trends and developed professional development programs for educators. Lucas is currently serving as the Director of Technology at Surry County Schools, responsible for technology planning, system analysis, and workflow optimization. Additionally, they have held a Director position at Games4Ed since 2015.

Lucas Gillispie holds a Master of Science (M.S.) in Instructional Technology from the University of North Carolina Wilmington, which they obtained from 2005 to 2008. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Biology from the same university between 1995 and 1998. In addition to their degrees, Lucas also possesses two certifications: "077 - Director of Technology" from NCDPI and "300 - Secondary Science" from NCDPI.
