Lead Character Technical Artist at Survios

Jason Barnidge is an experienced technical artist and animator known for their expertise in character rigging and animation. Jason has worked in various roles and companies throughout their career.

In 2007, Jason started their career at W.L. Jenkins, where they served as a TD and led a team of artists and animators in developing and implementing game art assets. Jason also conducted research and development on art asset creation procedures.

Jason then worked at Project Stealth as a Character TD, Animator, and Rigger. Here, they developed a pipeline for rigging and animating in-game characters and created custom MEL scripts to streamline the exporting, rigging, and animation processes.

Jason joined Petroglyph Games in 2008 as a Lead Technical Artist and Pipeline TD. Jason managed a technical art team and ensured the maintenance and improvement of workflow and pipeline tools. Jason also collaborated with other departments for pre-production planning.

From 2011 to 2013, Jason worked at Treyarch - Activision as a Senior Technical Animator. Jason was responsible for creating AI and cinematic animations, as well as planning and directing motion capture shoots. Jason also implemented proprietary tools and integrated animation sets for new AI classes.

In 2013, Jason joined Yuke's LA, Inc. as a Senior Technical Artist and Character TD. Jason played a crucial role in the development of new rigging systems to improve character creation and articulation. Jason also oversaw motionbuilder integration, pipeline development, and tools distribution.

At Santa Monica Studio in 2016, Jason served as a Senior Character Technical Artist. Jason'srole involved implementing high-quality character rigs and animations.

Simultaneously, Jason worked as an instructor at Gnomon - School of Visual Effects, Games, and Animation from 2016 to 2017, sharing their knowledge and expertise in animation.

In 2017, Jason joined Certain Affinity as an Advanced Technical Animator, where they further honed their skills in rigging and animation. Jason later took on the role of Lead Technical Animator, overseeing the development and improvement of animation pipelines.

Most recently, Jason joined Retro Studios in 2020 as a Senior Technical Animator. Jason performed advanced technical animation tasks until 2022.

Currently, Jason is employed at Survios as a Lead Character Technical Artist, where they bring their vast experience and expertise to lead the technical aspects of character design and animation.

Jason Barnidge attended the University of Louisiana at Lafayette from 1997 to 1999, where they studied Visual Arts & Art History. Jason then went on to The Art Institutes from 1999 to 2001, where they obtained an Associate degree in Computer Animation. Finally, from 2001 to 2003, they continued their education at The Art Institutes and earned a Bachelor's degree in Animated Arts & Media.
