Matthew Zirkelbach

Matthew Zirkelbach has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Matthew is currently the Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer at SustainaBase, where they lead the development of web applications for managing and reporting carbon emissions, water, waste, and more. Matthew co-founded RunBrook in 2009, a company that specializes in optimizing sustainable design and construction processes, securing green building certifications, and providing strategic guidance to clients. From 2009 to 2013, Zirkelbach served as the Vice President of Carbon Solutions America, where they managed existing projects and conducted sustainability consulting. Earlier in their career, they worked as a Project Manager at East Bay Group, conducted environmental site assessments at Universal Engineering Sciences, and served as a Research Assistant and Undergraduate Lab Instructor at Florida International University. Matthew also had an internship at Volusia County Environmental Management. Zirkelbach's expertise lies in sustainability, carbon credit commercialization, project management, and environmental research.

Matthew Zirkelbach obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Environmental Studies, Spanish, and Geography from Stetson University. Matthew attended Stetson University from 1997 to 2001. Afterward, they pursued a Master of Science degree in Environmental Science at Florida International University, where they studied from 2003 to 2005.

In addition to their formal education, Matthew Zirkelbach obtained various certifications. In 2009, they became a LEED Accredited Professional after completing a program offered by the United States Green Building Council. Matthew further pursued certifications in the field of sustainable building practices, including becoming a LEED AP Homes certified by USGBC / GBCI in 2015 and a LEED for Homes Green Rater certified by the United States Green Building Council. Additionally, in 2016, they obtained a certification as a Home Energy Rater from the Residential Energy Services Network and the Florida Solar Energy Center.
