Steve Michel

Steve Michel has over 30 years of work experience in various industries, primarily in IT and facilities operations. Steve has held leadership positions at multiple companies, including Sutro Biopharma, Inc., where they served as VP of Information Technology & Facilities Operations, leading a $10M expansion project and implementing various systems to support regulatory and manufacturing operations. Prior to that, they were the Executive Director and Senior Director of Information Technology & Facilities Operations at Sutro Biopharma, Inc., where they focused on areas such as cyber security, cloud infrastructure, ERP implementation, and disaster recovery.

Before joining Sutro Biopharma, Inc., Steve worked at Apple as a Senior Manager in Retail Business Development, where they played a key role in increasing Apple's market share in the SMB sector. Steve also co-developed an ERP system for the transportation industry as a partner at Workwerks and served as VP of Sales & Marketing at Tierra Technology, where they initiated key sales and marketing projects and established a new custom software division.

Earlier in their career, Steve worked as an IT Director at Discovery Partners International, where they were responsible for the technology infrastructure, and as an eCommerce Manager at ChemRx Advanced Technologies, where they developed a multi-phase eCommerce system. Steve also held IT support and desktop support roles at Axys Pharmaceutical, Arris Pharmaceutical, and Sony Corporation of America.

Steve Michel earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree with a focus on Strategic Management and Business Analytics from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Steve attended the university from 2018 to 2020. Prior to that, Steve obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree from the University of Southern California, where they studied Fine Arts from 1985 to 1989. In addition to their degrees, Steve has also obtained several certifications, including the 3D Printing and Additive Manufacturing Specialization, Business Analytics Specialization, Strategic Leadership & Management Specialization from Gies College of Business at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute.
