Matthew Sakumoto

Matthew Sakumoto currently serves as a Virtual-First Primary Care Physician and Chief Medical Information Officer at Sutter Health’s West Bay Region since July 2021. Additionally, Matthew acts as a volunteer mentor at MATTER, providing guidance to health tech startups on various topics. As an Adjunct Faculty member at UCSF Health, Matthew contributes to the Clinical Informatics Fellowship. Previous roles include being a Clinical Informatics Fellow at PlushCare and a Virtual Provider at Teladoc Health, where Matthew supported patient care during the COVID-19 pandemic. Matthew founded Music Matters Med, a non-profit organization aimed at providing live bedside music in hospitals, and completed an Internal Medicine residency at Scripps Mercy Hospital. Academic credentials include an MD from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and a BS in Biomedical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis.
