Dérick Swart

Dérick Swart is an accomplished legal professional with extensive experience in technology law and intellectual property. Currently serving as the Managing Director and Technology Lawyer at SWART since February 2012, Dérick also holds a position as a Non-Executive Director for Hydrostruct, a company within the SWART Ventures Portfolio, since September 2024. Previously, Dérick was a Director of Intellectual Property & Technology and an Attorney at Cluver Markotter from January 2001 to January 2012, and began a legal career as a Candidate Attorney at Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr Inc from January 1999 to December 2000. In academia, Dérick contributed as a Junior Lecturer in the Department of Private Law at the University of Stellenbosch in 1998. Dérick holds a BA LLB degree from Stellenbosch University, along with certifications such as CISSP from (ISC)² and a BPhil in Theology from Stellenbosch University.
