Nina A. Johnson, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Sociology and Black Studies at Swarthmore College, with a career spanning over two decades in academia and community engagement. Previous roles include Assistant Professor and Mellon Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Swarthmore, Graduate Lecturer and Doctoral Candidate at Northwestern University, and Research Associate at New York University. Johnson's expertise encompasses cultural praxis, race, mobility, political community, identity, and ethnographic methods. Significant contributions also include program coordination in youth and workforce development, curriculum development, and community organizing across various organizations, including Cornell University Cooperative Extension and the Brooklyn Children's Museum.
