Jessica D. Hedgepeth Balkin

Jessica D. Hedgepeth Balkin, R.P.A., is a dedicated archaeologist with extensive experience in academia and fieldwork. Currently serving as a Staff Archaeologist at SWCA Environmental Consultants since January 2023, Jessica previously held positions as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and an Adjunct Faculty Instructor at the University of Pittsburgh, where courses focused on anthropology and cultural resource management. Jessica’s tenure as a Scholar in Residence at the University of Colorado Boulder involved developing a database on ancient human settlements. With a PhD in Anthropology (Archaeology) from the University of Colorado Boulder, along with a Master’s degree from the same institution and a Bachelor’s degree from Brandeis University, Jessica brings a robust academic foundation and a wealth of practical experience, including directing archaeological surveys and excavations in Mexico and working with various educational institutions.
