Jorge Garcia-Herreros

Jorge Garcia-Herreros has a diverse and extensive work experience. Jorge currently serves as the Lead Archaeologist at SWCA Environmental Consultants, a position they have held since May 2023. Prior to this, Jorge was a Commissioner at the Harris County Historical Commission from October 2021 to May 2023. From 2006 to 2023, they served as the President of Gulf Coast Archaeology Group, LLC.

Throughout their career, Jorge has been actively involved in the field of archaeology and historical preservation. Jorge served as a Commissioner at the Houston Archaeological and Historical Commission from October 2011 to June 2019. Additionally, they worked as an Adjunct Instructor of Anthropology at both Houston Community College from August 2012 to December 2016 and Lone Star College from August 2011 to May 2015.

Jorge also gained experience in leadership roles outside of academia. Jorge Garcia-Herreros earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology from the University of Houston, completing their studies from 1993 to 1995. Jorge further pursued their education at the same institution and obtained a Master of Arts degree in Anthropology/Archaeology, which they completed from 1996 to 1998. Additionally, Jorge holds a certification as a Registered Professional Archaeologist from the Register of Professional Archaeologists.
