Melanie Medeiros

Melanie Medeiros has a significant amount of work experience in the field of environmental consulting and archaeology. Melanie started their career at William Self Associates in 2007, where they served as a Senior Archaeologist/Project Manager and QA-QC Coordinator. During their time there, they managed archaeological projects primarily in the Southwest and Great Basin/Colorado Plateau regions, oversaw multiple staff members, developed and tracked project budgets, conducted research, and wrote project reports. Melanie also worked as a technical editor, leading a small editing and production team responsible for producing professional proposals and reports.

In 2014, Melanie joined SWCA Environmental Consultants as a Project Manager/Archaeologist. In this role, they managed projects with cultural and natural resources components across various regions, including Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, Utah, and Wyoming. Melanie also served as a point of contact for clients, prepared proposals, and pursued business development opportunities.

More recently, Melanie took on the role of Business Development Lead at SWCA's Front Range offices in 2021. In this position, they focus on building client relationships, providing client-facing support, and mentoring junior staff in business development and project management.

Before their time at William Self Associates and SWCA, Melanie worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Arizona's School of Anthropology from 2006 to 2008. Melanie was responsible for leading lectures, discussion sections, and hands-on exercises for various anthropology courses.

Earlier in their career, Melanie worked at the Arizona State Museum, University of Arizona, where they served as a Technical Editor and helped bring two volumes in the ASM Archaeological Series to publication. Melanie also worked as a Crew Chief/Ground Stone Analyst at Chevelon Ruin for the Homol'ovi Research Program.

Melanie Medeiros has an impressive education history in the field of Archaeology. Melanie began their academic journey by completing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Classical Studies & Archaeology at Cornell College from 1999 to 2003. Melanie then pursued a Master of Arts degree in Anthropology (Archaeology) at the University of Arizona, which they successfully completed from 2003 to 2005. Melanie furthered their education by enrolling in the Ph.D. program at the University of Arizona, specializing in Anthropology (Archaeology), and they completed this program from 2005 to 2010.

In addition to their formal education, Melanie Medeiros has obtained a certification from the Register of Professional Archaeologists (RPA) in December 2015. This certification further enhances their expertise and professional credibility in the field.
