Merilin Vahtra is a Senior Compliance Officer at Swedbank Estonia, the largest bank in the country, since March 2022. Prior to this role, Vahtra served as a member of the Joint Committee Sub-Committee on Consumer Protection and Financial Innovation at the European Banking Authority, European Securities and Markets Authority, and EIOPA from January 2021 to February 2022. Vahtra has extensive experience in consumer protection and financial innovation, having contributed as a member of the Standing Committee on Consumer Protection and Financial Innovation from January 2015 to February 2022 and as a lawyer at the Finantsinspektsioon from October 2014 to February 2022. Additionally, Vahtra was a member of the Investor Protection and Intermediaries Standing Committee at ESMA from November 2017 to August 2021, focusing on policy development for investment products. Currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Law at TalTech – Tallinn University of Technology, Vahtra has also participated in law training at ELSA Azerbaijan and Maynooth University.
