Sara Isman

Sara Isman is a seasoned legal and humanitarian professional with extensive experience in asylum and refugee law, human rights, and gender equality. Currently serving as a Programme Specialist at Sida since October 2019, Sara manages Swedish development projects focused on democracy, human rights, and gender equality while coordinating with donors on gender initiatives. At the Swedish Migration Agency, involvement spans across roles as a Litigation Officer and Decision Maker, representing the Migration Board in court and assessing asylum claims, particularly for unaccompanied minors. Additionally, Sara has contributed as a National Expert with the European Asylum Support Office, providing crucial support to asylum services in Italy and Greece, and previously served in various capacities enhancing rule of law and police reform in international settings, including the Democratic Republic of the Congo. With a Master of Laws from Lund University, Sara combines a solid legal foundation with practical insights from diverse international experiences in human rights advocacy and legal reform.
