Kim G Ellis Hayes has extensive experience in the space research industry. Kim G is currently the Chief Executive Officer at Hayes Group LLC, a minority/women-owned space research services company. In this role, they focus on spaceflight feasibility studies and serves as the NASA Space Apps Local Lead for Raleigh, NC. Prior to their current position, they were the Space Technology Program Director and Major Discipline Co-ordinator at Swinburne University of Technology, where they led space technology programs and conducted research on global public policy and regulatory affairs for satellite systems. Kim has also served as the Chief Executive Officer of International Earth and Space Technology Pty Ltd, Adjunct Faculty at the International Space University, member of the Aerospace Industry Advisory Board at Monash University, and NASA Postdoctoral Program Proposal Reviewer at USRA. Kim G has a diverse background in space policy, economics, law, and engineering. Additionally, they have experience in legal practical training and pilot plant operations/chemistry. Kim's expertise lies in strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and project management in the space industry.
Kim G Ellis Hayes holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from the University of Newcastle, which was obtained from 1989 to 2000. Kim G then pursued further education and obtained a Graduate Diploma of Community Development (Emergency Management) from Southern Cross University in 2009. In 2010, they participated in the Space Studies Program at the International Space University. Later, from 2009 to 2014, they attended the University of New England (AU) and earned a Bachelor of Laws degree. Kim G'seducational journey continued with a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice (GDLP) in Postgraduate Law from The Australian National University, completed from 2013 to 2015. In terms of certifications, they are a member of the International Institute of Space Law (IISL), the American Bar Association, and has been admitted as a lawyer of the Supreme Court of NSW. Additionally, they hold a Radiation Licence Certificate under the Radiation Control Act 1990 from the NSW Government Office of Environment and Heritage.
