Natalie Grunfeld Furman is the current General Counsel at Swirlds. Prior to their current position, they were the General Counsel at Hedera from September 2017 to January 2022, where they were also the Co-Chair of the Legal & Regulatory Committee of Hedera Governing Council. Natalie has also worked as a Senior Litigation Associate at Paul Hastings from March 2007 to May 2017, where they were a Trademark and Litigation Attorney representing clients in all aspects of trademark portfolio strategy, prosecution, licensing, enforcement and defense. Some of their key responsibilities included advising on selection and clearance of trademarks, applications for federal registration, and proper use of marks; negotiating and reviewing licensing agreements, consent and coexistence agreements, and settlement agreements; appearing in state and federal litigation and proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board; preparing and reviewing documents including responses to office actions, cease and desist letters, pleadings, discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, discovery motions, pre-trial motions, briefs and memoranda of law; conducting fact discovery and preparing witness affidavits; coordinating international filings with foreign counsel; and managing one of the most active trademark dockets in the United States.

Natalie Grunfeld Furman received their Doctor of Law from Columbia Law School and their B.A. in Anthropology from Stanford University. Natalie also attended Trinity School in NYC and The Nightingale-Bamford School.
