Christian Marc Schmied

Christian Marc Schmied has a diverse work experience in the field of cardiology and sports cardiology. Christian Marc is currently a Professor and Senior Consultant for Cardiology and Sports Cardiology at Hirslanden since 2023. Prior to that, they held various positions at Universitätsspital Zürich, including Professor for Cardiology / Senior Medical Consultant and Chief of Service. Christian Marc also worked as a Consultant and Sports Cardiology Specialist at Kantonsspital Aarau AG. In addition, they have academic roles as a Professor of Cardiology at Universität Zürich and a Senior Lecturer at ETH Zürich. Throughout their career, they have also served as a Consultant for Cardiology for organizations such as FIFA, Swiss Olympic, and the International Ice Hockey Federation. Christian Marc has extensive experience in providing medical support to sports teams, including Swiss-Ski and Kloten Flyers Hockey Club.

Christian Marc Schmied obtained their Staatsexamen and Promotion in Medizin from the University of Zurich, which they attended from 1992 to 1998. Christian Marc then pursued further professional degrees and specifications from the Swiss Medical Association, specializing in Cardiology and Sports Medicine in 2008 and 2006 respectively. Christian Marc also obtained a Professional Degree/Specification in Internal Medicine from the Swiss Medical Association (FMH) in 2006. In 2014, Schmied achieved their Habilitation in the field of Kardiologie/Innere Medizin from the University of Zurich. Additionally, they are currently working towards a Professor degree in Medizin at the University of Zurich, starting in 2022.
