Rafael Meier has a diverse work experience that includes roles in various organizations. Rafael started their career in 2001 as a snow sports instructor at the Adelboden Snow Sports School in Switzerland. In the same year, they also worked as a physical education teacher at Kanton Basel-Stadt. From 2006 to 2017, Rafael worked as a secondary school teacher at the Canton of Bern. In 2017, they joined Swiss Olympic as a Programme Manager for the "Schule bewegt" program, and later became the Head of Mass Sports. Currently, Rafael holds the position of the Head of Swiss Olympic Academy.

Rafael Meier has a diverse education history. Rafael began their education at Gymnasium Oberwil where they obtained their Matur (Typus C) degree in mathematics. Following that, they attended the University of Basel for two years and acquired a Physical Education and Sports Teacher Diploma 1.

In 2001, Meier enrolled at Basel University of Teacher Education and Social Work, where they completed their Diploma in Secondary Teacher Education specializing in German, Sport, and Biology. Their education continued in 2006 with a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Sport Management from the Université de Fribourg - Universität Freiburg.

Rafael further pursued their studies in Sport Management and gained a Diploma of Advanced Studies in 2020 from the same institution. Meier is currently enrolled in an Executive MAS program in Sport Management at the Université de Fribourg - Universität Freiburg, which they are expected to complete in 2023.

In addition to their academic qualifications, Meier also obtained the SVEB-Zertifikat Stufe 1 "Lernveranstaltungen mit Erwachsenen durchführen" from the SVEB Schweizerischer Verband für Weiterbildung in 2013. Rafael also received the certification of "Experte Jugend und Sport Skifahren" from the Bundesamt für Sport BASPO in 2011.

Meier has also obtained practical experience in skiing, as they hold a Snowsport Instructor certification from Swiss Snowsports.
