Carl Steffensen is an accomplished geologist and program manager with extensive experience in the energy sector. As the Program Manager at Switch Energy Alliance since August 2022, Carl leads the Switch International Energy Case Competition, focusing on fostering an energy-educated future. Carl serves as the President and Chief Geologist of Viking GeoSolutions LLC since May 2016, providing consulting services for regional studies in various Gulf Coast regions and South Atlantic margins, with a particular emphasis on carbonate and siliciclastic systems. Previously, Carl held positions at Equinor, including Team Manager and Principal Geologist, where responsibilities included overseeing exploration activities in the Gulf of Mexico. Carl's career also includes significant roles at BP America and Vastar Resources, where expertise in geologic evaluation and seismic interpretation was applied extensively. Carl holds a Master of Science in Geology from Texas A&M University and a Bachelor of Science in Geology from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
