The leadership team at Swords to Plowshares has a long history of working in industries related to military and veterans affairs, housing, mental health, and education. Many members of the team have worked as staff attorneys or case managers at various organizations, while others have experience in communications, marketing, and public relations. The team also has a wide range of educational backgrounds, including degrees in public communication, gender studies, theatre arts, counseling psychology, expressive arts therapy, theology, and political science.
