Almohanad Fayez

Almohanad Fayez has a diverse work experience spanning over different companies and roles. Almohanad is currently working at swXtch.io as the Director of Engineering, a position they started in July 2022. Before joining swXtch.io, Almohanad worked at Amazon as a Software Development Engineer II from December 2018 to November 2021. Almohanad then moved to AWS Elemental, an Amazon Web Services Company, where they served as a Software Development Engineer II from August 2017 to December 2018. In this role, they were involved in the development of AWS Elemental MediaPackage, a video packaging service.

Prior to their tenure at Amazon, Almohanad worked at Intel Corporation from July 2013 to August 2017. Almohanad held the positions of Platform Software Engineer and Software Engineer (R&D). In these roles, they contributed to software development for Intel's 5G platforms and next-generation test modules.

Almohanad also has experience in research and academic settings. Almohanad worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at Virginia Tech from January 2008 to May 2013, focusing on embedded development for software-defined radios and wireless telecommunication projects. Additionally, they interned at Ettus Research LLC in 2012.

Earlier in their career, Almohanad worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at Virginia Tech's Electronic Textiles Lab from August 2006 to August 2007, and as a Research Assistant in the Advanced Wireless and Security Lab from May 2005 to December 2005. Almohanad also served as an ECE Department Undergraduate Assistant at Virginia Tech in the summer of 2004.

Almohanad Fayez's education history begins with a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering that they pursued from 2002 to 2007 at Virginia Tech. Following this, they pursued a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Tech as well, from 2008 to 2011. Almohanad then furthered their education by completing a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Electrical Engineering at Virginia Tech from 2011 to 2013.
