James Wheeler

James Wheeler has extensive experience in technical and production roles within the performing arts sector. Currently serving as Director of Technical and Production at Sydney Theatre Company since May 2021, James previously held senior positions at Opera Australia from January 2015 to April 2021, including Senior Manager of Operations and Senior Production Manager. Prior to that, James was Head of Staging at Sydney Opera House from 2000 to December 2014, overseeing staging and technical services for various venues and outdoor events. James's career began in the late 1980s, with roles such as Head Flyman at Opera Australia and Theatre Technician at the Victorian Arts Centre, culminating in an impressive portfolio of over 200 performances and extensive experience in production logistics and design.
