Nimmi Nirmalarajan has extensive experience in project management and consulting roles within the water industry. Nimmi is currently working as a Principal Project Manager at Sydney Water since January 2020. Prior to this, they worked as a Director/Management Consultant at NGBS Consulting from January 2016 to January 2020.
In their previous roles, Nimmi served as a Senior Advisor in Project Management at CARAS from February 2018 to February 2019, where they provided technical support services and advisory services in client-side project management. At TYPSA, they worked as a Senior PMO Advisor and Executive Coach from August 2015 to December 2016 and led a transformation program in the delivery of capital works projects.
Before that, Nimmi served as a Senior Consultant at Adivo Consulting from January 2013 to December 2016, where they guided and advised on the delivery of capital works projects. Nimmi also worked as the Head of Water at Arcadis from January 2007 to June 2009, leading and managing a team in the water business unit.
Nimmi's earlier experience includes roles at AECOM as a Resident Engineer (Safety) and at Sydney Water as a Senior Consultant. Nimmi also worked at MWH (now part of Stantec) as a Senior Resident Engineer, where they were involved in a major infrastructure development project in Hong Kong.
Throughout their career, Nimmi has demonstrated expertise in project management, client advisory, strategic planning, and leadership roles within the water industry.
Nimmi Nirmalarajan obtained a Diploma of Project Management from Elemental Projects in 2020. Nimmi also holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree with a focus on Technology Management from Deakin University. Additionally, they have a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute with a specialization in PMBOK. Nimmi further pursued a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Civil Engineering, majoring in Engineering, from the University of Peradeniya. Nimmi has acquired various certifications and memberships including being a member of the Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM) since August 2022 and a member of the Australian Water Association since November 1986. Nimmi also holds the certifications of Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute and Chartered Engineer from the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE). Moreover, they are a Chartered Professional Engineer and Fellow of the Institution of Engineers Australia, as well as a Chartered Water and Environment Manager through CIWEM (The Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management).
