Stephen O'Sullivan

Stephen O'Sullivan is currently a Principal Software Engineer at Symbio Robotics. Prior to this, they were a Graduate Student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Before that, they were a Machine Learning Lead at Walmart Global Tech. From 2017 to 2020, they worked at Kabbage from American Express in three roles: Senior Machine Learning Engineer, Senior Data Scientist, and Data Scientist. Stephen also held an Automated Driving Research Intern – Machine Learning Embedded Software role at Ford Motor Company in 2017.

Stephen O'Sullivan has a long and varied educational history. Stephen obtained a Bachelor's degree in Theoretical and Mathematical Physics from Trinity College Dublin between 2000 and 2004. Stephen then worked as a Research Assistant in Physics at University College Cork from 2004 to 2006. Finally, they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology between 2006 and 2015. Additionally, they have obtained three certificates from Coursera: Probabilistic Graphical Models 1: Representation in October 2016, Machine Learning in November 2016, and Probabilistic Graphical Models 2: Inference in May 2017.
