Ruben Leenders

Ruben Leenders, Ph.D., is a seasoned professional in the field of medicinal chemistry with extensive experience in drug discovery and project management. Currently serving as Senior Team Leader at Symeres since January 2019, Ruben leads project teams of up to 14 individuals through iterative design-make-test cycles. Prior to this role, Ruben spent over two decades at MercachemSyncom, holding positions as Group Leader Medicinal Chemistry and Senior Research Scientist, where FTE and FFS projects were managed for a global client base, alongside synthesis route design and execution. Ruben's academic foundation includes a Ph.D. in Chemistry and an MSc in Organic and Clinical Chemistry from Radboud University, where an early research focus included a pilot study on selective antitumor prodrugs resulting in funding from the Dutch Cancer Society.
