Damon Payne has a diverse and extensive work experience in various roles and industries. Damon began their career as a Staff Consultant at Cornerstone Consulting in 2000. Damon then worked at Centare Group as a Microsoft Business Group Manager from 2002 to 2005. After that, they were a Principal Architect at SafeNet Consulting, where they worked as a software architect, mobile developer, ASP.NET developer, mentor, and team lead.
From 2005 to 2006, Damon served as the Director of Solution Strategy at CarSpot (AutoTrader), focusing on mobile development for vehicle data collection and integration. Damon then returned to SafeNet Consulting as a Principal Architect.
In 2009, Damon joined Edgenet as a Distinguished Engineer and Principal Architect, contributing to the design and development of large-scale applications and services. Damon also conducted research, developed machine learning techniques, established company-wide policies, and oversaw application design for major product families.
From 2014 to 2016, Damon held leadership positions at Red Arrow Labs as a Senior Software Architect, and at Edgenet as the Director of R&D. Afterward, they joined Northwestern Mutual as a Senior Enterprise Architect, leading strategic oversight of technical architecture functions and managing stakeholder relationships.
In 2018, Damon joined symplr as the Vice President of Platform Engineering. Damon established and led the first platform engineering division, assembled a high-performance team, and grew the organization to a 50-member workforce across three continents. Damon also designed and launched a blockchain-based provider credential platform and turned around troubled customer relationships.
Throughout their career, Damon has demonstrated expertise in healthcare architecture design, infrastructure/platform-as-a-service, web and mobile products, database technologies, and global team leadership. Damon is also skilled in stakeholder presentations, customer relationships, and organizational turnarounds. Damon is a certified Agile Scrum Master and has experience in analytics, public cloud technologies, and data science.
Damon Payne earned an MCS degree in Business and Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in 2000. Damon also obtained an Executive Leadership Certificate from Cornell University in 2022.
