Alasdair Smith has over 20 years of experience in the IT industry. Alasdair began their career in 2001 as an IT Engineer at Rotech, where they provided support for the company IT Network and CFD and 3D CAD design software. In 2004, they moved to Operation Mobilization as an IT Engineer, where they provided daily support to the Carlisle office, 3 satellite offices and individual remote users operating internationally. In 2005, they took on the role of Network Consultant at EMIS. Alasdair then joined Harris CapRock Communications in 2006 as a Global Support Engineer, where they supported clients primarily in Maritime or Oil and Gas. In 2012, they began working at SpeedCast as an OSS Infrastructure and Automation Engineer, where they led and supported a group of five other engineers. Alasdair is currently working at SYNALOGiK Innovative Solutions Limited as a Systems Engineering Manager.

Alasdair Smith obtained a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) in Computing and Electronics from Heriot-Watt University between 1997 and 2001. In November 2008, they obtained a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) from Cisco. In April 2013, they obtained a Solarwinds Certified Professional from Solarwinds. Finally, in January 2014, they obtained a Neverfail Certified Implementation Engineer from Neverfail Group.
