David Holmes LL.M Information Rights Law has a diverse work experience spanning over a decade. David started their career in 2010 as a Sales Executive at Callcredit Information Group, where they demonstrated strong sales skills and expertise in the database marketing industry. In 2012, they briefly worked as a Business Development Manager at Scientia Data.
From 2013 to 2018, David worked at Saint Francis Hospice, initially as a Direct Marketing Executive, where they developed and implemented communication strategies to increase the lifetime value of donors. David then took on the role of Head of Individual Giving (Interim), responsible for generating £3.2m through various fundraising initiatives. Subsequently, they became the Data & Direct Marketing Manager, ensuring compliance with fundraising regulations, data protection laws, and implementing donor engagement strategies. Additionally, David served as the Data Protection & GDPR Lead, overseeing compliance as the organization prepared for changes in data protection laws.
In 2018, David joined Data Protection People as a Data Protection & Information Governance Consultant & Trainer. Their responsibilities included providing tailored services and advice to ensure compliance with data protection and information security requirements. David also played an active role in running webinars and podcasts on data protection matters.

David Holmes LL.M Information Rights Law has an extensive educational background in the field of law and information rights. David obtained a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B Hons) in Commercial Law from the University of Hull in 2008, achieving a second-class upper division (2.1) degree. Following their undergraduate studies, they pursued further legal education at The College of Law - York, where they completed the Legal Practice Course (LPC) in 2009, specializing in the Commercial and Private Route.
In recent years, David focused on information rights law and practice. David obtained a Master's degree in Information Rights Law & Practice from Northumbria University in 2020. Prior to their master's degree, they completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Information Rights Law and Practice at the same institution in 2019. In 2018, they also pursued a Postgraduate Certificate in Data Protection Law and Information Governance at Northumbria University, further enhancing their knowledge and expertise in this field.
David's education in information rights and data protection goes beyond academia. In 2017, they engaged in professional development by securing a Certificate in Principles of Data Protection Level 3 from Griffin House Consultancy, specializing in Data Protection Risk & Compliance. David also received training in Information Governance through the Health & Social Care Information Centre in the same year.
Additionally, David has expanded their knowledge in the field of marketing, particularly in the realm of direct and digital marketing. David completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Direct and Digital Marketing in 2014 from The Institute of Direct and Digital Marketing.
