Synapse Energy Economics
Asa Hopkins has a diverse work experience in the energy and policy sectors. Asa was the Vice President at Synapse Energy Economics since April 2019 and served as Principal Associate from January 2017 to April 2019. Prior to that, they worked as the Director of Energy Policy and Planning at the State of Vermont from October 2011 to December 2016. As a Special Advisor to the Under Secretary for Science at the U.S. Department of Energy, they played a key role in coordinating the development of the DOE's Quadrennial Technology Review. Asa also has experience as a Sole Proprietor at Open Campaigns and as an Environmental Energy Policy Postdoctoral Fellow at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Asa holds a Ph.D. in Physics from Caltech, where they conducted research in quantum-optical systems and served as a member of the Sustainability Council. Asa also worked as a Postbaccalaureate student at Los Alamos National Laboratory.
Asa Hopkins completed their Bachelor's degree in Physics from Haverford College between 1997 and 2001. They then pursued a Ph.D. in Physics at Caltech from 2002 to 2008.
