What We Need

As a Senior Payroll Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll for our employees across multiple states. You will leverage your expertise in payroll administration to manage complex payroll tasks, maintain compliance with state and federal regulations, and provide exceptional service to our employees. This position reports to the Manager, People Operations and offers the opportunity to contribute to the success of our organization through meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to excellence. 

What You Will Do

  • Process multi-state payroll for employees accurately and on time, including but not limited to, salary, hourly, and commission payments, bonuses, and deductions. 
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including tax withholding requirements, wage and hour laws, and reporting obligations. 
  • Perform payroll reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner. 
  • Manage employee payroll inquiries and provide exceptional customer service to resolve issues and address concerns. 
  • Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to ensure accurate employee data management and payroll processing. 
  • Assist with year-end payroll processes, including W-2 and 1099 preparation and distribution. 
  • Stay updated on changes in payroll laws and regulations, and implement necessary updates to payroll processes and procedures. 
  • Support special projects and initiatives as assigned by the Payroll Manager. 

What You Have

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred. 
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in payroll administration, with a focus on multi-state payroll processing. 
  • Proficiency in payroll software and systems, with experience using Paylocity. 
  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local payroll regulations and compliance requirements. 
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to manage complex payroll processes efficiently. 
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer service-oriented approach. 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion. 
  • Live within a commutable distance to Skokie, IL (60076).
