Yi Yao

Yi Yao is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in hardware design and engineering. Currently serving as a Senior Hardware Designer at Synaptive Medical since August 2015, Yi Yao focuses on advancing technology in neurosurgery for improved patient outcomes. Yi Yao's background includes founding Qtul Enterprises, where the design of an economic CNC rotary table was prioritized, and co-founding Per Vices Corporation, leading product development as CTO. Previous roles also include a software developer position at National Instruments, ensuring product quality for Multisim and Ultiboard, and a research assistant role at University Health Network, contributing to biomedical and optical experiments. Yi Yao’s diverse skill set is supported by a BASc in Electrical Engineering from the University of Toronto and ongoing education at Y Combinator. Additionally, Yi Yao has been a musician with the Canadian Forces since September 2004, providing musical support and promoting cultural awareness.
