Rod Hughes began their professional career in 1998 as the Director of Sleep Research Laboratory and Associate Neuroscientist at Brigham and Women's Hospital. That same year, they also became an Instructor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. In 2000, they joined Cephalon as Vice President of Scientific Communications. In 2007, they founded Synchrony Healthcare Communications, Inc., where they served as President and CEO. At Synchrony, they specialized in strategic planning, development, and execution of innovative medical communication campaigns and initiatives for the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device industries. Rod also founded Synchrony Medical, which provided strategic scientific communications planning and publishing support for product and therapeutic area publications. Lastly, they provided strategic communications planning and support for products and therapeutic areas in the pharmaceutical and medical device industries.
Rod Hughes completed a Post Doctoral Fellowship in Sleep Medicine at Health and Science jobs from 1994 to 1996. Prior to that, they obtained a PhD in Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience from Bowling Green State University from 1991 to 1994.
