Karl Schimmeck

Karl Schimmeck is an accomplished information security professional currently serving as the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at Synchrony since August 2025. In addition to this role, Karl is a member of the Board of Directors for both the Cyber Risk Institute (CRI) and FS-ISAC. Prior to Synchrony, Karl held the position of EVP/CISO at Northern Trust and served at Morgan Stanley for over eight years in various leadership roles, including US Banks CISO and Global Head of Security Assurance. Karl's extensive experience includes managing technology risk, vulnerability management, and operational risk across multiple financial institutions, as well as a significant tenure with organizations like SIFMA and Goldman Sachs.
