Marcos de Moraes founded and developed several companies in the telecom and internet sectors, including @cess, a paging company, and Zip.net, a Brazilian Internet service provider sold to Portugal Telecom in 2000.

Through Zip.net, he designed and successfully implemented, among others, Zip Educação, a program that connected public schools in the state of São Paulo, besides creating and successfully implementing a virtual community that benefited over six million students and their teachers, at no cost to the government, and helped create bridges between them and Zip.net’s strong portfolio of corporate clients.

Mr. de Moraes is a member of Americas Society’s Chairman’s International Advisory Council. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Bhutan Foundation and the Advisory Board for Conservation International Brazil. He is the former founder and CEO of Sagatiba Brasil S/A and sold the company to Campari in 2011.
