Jun Zhang

CEO & Chief Scientist at Synmatter

Dr. Zhang holds a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering, a Master of Materials Physical Chemistry as well as a Master of Materials Science and Engineering and a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry.

During her extensive career as a materials scientist, Dr. Zhang has developed numerous new technologies which have resulted in 8 patents and over 30 peer-reviewed publications, including the cover article for the prestigious Advanced Materials journal. After graduating from the University of Central Florida, Dr. Zhang was awarded a NASA Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center, where she developed a patent pending method for encapsulating a wide variety of organic and inorganic compounds into controlled release microparticles. This led to the founding of SynMatter, LLC which is focused on the commercialization of next-generation corrosion-inhibiting, antifouling and absorbent additives for coatings based on the encapsulation technology.
