John Lee is a seasoned executive with extensive experience in the electronics and semiconductor industries. Currently serving as Vice President for Electronics, Semiconductors, and Optics R&D at Synopsys Inc since July 2025, John also holds board positions at Si2 and the ESD Alliance, and has been a board member of Friends of Seoul Foreign School since 2012. Previously, John was General Manager and Vice President at Ansys, where business success in the semiconductor market was a focus, and founded Gear Design Solutions, known for developing a pioneering big data platform for chip design. With a background as General Manager and Vice President at Magma Design Automation and an early career at Synopsys Inc, John has a proven track record of leadership and innovation in EDA products. John holds a degree in Computer Engineering/Electronic Design Automation from Carnegie Mellon University.
