Syosset Public Library
Sharon Long is the Assistant Library Director at Syosset Public Library, a position held since December 2006, where expertise in public library services has been utilized to enhance community engagement and services, supervising departments such as Circulation, Children’s Services, and Programming. Previous roles include Acting Assistant Library Director and Head of Teen Services, where skills in program planning and resource selection for young adults were developed. Prior experience also includes project management in promotional marketing at CoActive Marketing Group and various roles in research and marketing. Sharon Long holds a Master of Library and Information Science from LIU Post and a Bachelor of Science in Management with a focus on Marketing from Binghamton University.

Mission Statement It is the mission of the Syosset Public Library to provide the residents of the Syosset School District with the broadest possible range of information resources as well as a variety of opportunities for cultural enrichment that enhances the quality-of-life of the community. GOALS AND OBJECTIVES We will strive to maintain an extensive reference collection, worldwide reliable electronic resources and an expert service-oriented staff. We will strive to provide the newest and best reading materials as well as a strong collection of classic literature. We will strive to make available noteworthy music, movie and other non-print items to meet the diverse needs and tastes of the community. We will strive to have a variety of programs for children that are entertaining, educational and encourage a life-long love for reading and knowledge. We will provide support for the excellent educational programs offered in our schools. We will strive to have adult programming that is informational, instructive and entertaining. We will schedule exciting trips to concerts, theatre productions and other points of interest. We will strive to have the library reflect the high standards of the Syosset-Woodbury Community, a quality collection and cultural and entertainment opportunities for all, in modern and comfortable surroundings.
