Hossein Robatjazi

Lead Scientist & Director of Catalyst Research at Syzygy Plasmonics

Dr. Robatjazi is the Lead scientist and Director of Catalyst Research at Syzygy Plasmonics and an Adjunct Professor of Chemistry at Rice University. He obtained his Ph.D. from Rice University in 2019 and is a co-inventor of the antenna-reactor photocatalyst technology being further developed at Syzygy Plasmonics. Dr. Robatjazi has more than a decade of experience in the nanoscience, plasmonics, and catalysis fields. His research is driven by the thrill of developing novel catalytic materials and alternatives to conventional thermal processes. The ultimate vision is to enable sustainable chemical and fuel manufacturing while addressing challenges in catalysis, energy, health, and the environment. His work has led to more than 30 peer-reviewed publications, including several in Nature and Science, along with multiple awards and recognitions. He received the prestigious 2019 Arnold O. Beckman postdoctoral fellowship award in chemical science, the Hershel M. Rich invention award, and the ExxonMobil best Ph.D. presenter award.
