Senior/Principal Scientist – Antibody Development
T-Cypher Bio is an early-stage, innovative biotechnology company aiming to unlock an expansive target space to build a pipeline of novel, T-cell receptor (TCR)-based therapeutics. We are seeking a highly motivated Senior or Principal Scientist with a strong background in antibody development to advance our biologics platform as part of the Protein Engineering team.
What you will do
The primary focus of this role will be to execute experiments for the production, purification, screening & characterization of antibody-based formats. The ideal candidate should have hands on experience with protein development methodologies and demonstrate a strong understanding of protein engineering and molecular biology-based approaches.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop antibody-based binders for clinical use in advanced modalities such as bispecific immune cell engagers or ADCs
- Drive the design, engineering, and characterization of antibody derived formats using cutting-edge molecular biology techniques, protein engineering methodologies, and structural biology approaches
- Produce, purify & characterize proteins, ensuring high purity and integrity for downstream assays
- Develop and optimize assays for the identification, characterization, and quantification of candidate molecules
- Participate in group and project meetings, offering insights and expertise on technical elements to advance research projects
- Analyse and record experimental results and communicate findings to the team and to management
- Maintain and implement good laboratory practices, including accurate laboratory notebook systems, instrument and reagent maintenance, and personnel safety precautions
- Work in a fast-paced start-up environment, with the motivation to work on multiple projects in parallel.
To be successful you will need
- D. in Protein Engineering, Molecular Biology, Protein Biochemistry, or a related field, plus a minimum of 3 years professional experience in protein research (5+ years for consideration at the Principal level)
- Demonstrated expertise in protein biochemistry, including experience in the production, purification, and characterization of proteins
- Hands on experience designing, producing and optimising antibodies
- Proven track record of working with recombinant protein expression systems, such as mammalian cell culture
- Strong expertise in protein engineering techniques, including rational design and developable formats
- Desire to develop clinical antibody or soluble TCR-based therapeutic molecules
- Demonstrated expertise in basic molecular biology techniques including PCR, cloning, mutagenesis and sequencing
- Desire to lead research projects whilst functioning as part of a wider research team
- Demonstrated ability of platform/protocol enhancements & improvements
- Ability to adapt to multiple roles in an evolving company
- Enjoy working towards challenging goals in a fast-moving environment
- Ability to follow and write protocols and SOPs
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations in a laboratory environment
- Strong organizational and communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Strong drive to deliver on company milestones and goals
