Antonio Gomez has a diverse range of work experience spanning over several decades. Antonio began their career in education and worked as a Bilingual Kindergarten Teacher for the Oakland Unified School District from 1998 to 2003, and later as a Music, Spanish, and Social Studies Teacher at Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory from 2003 to 2007. During their time at KCTS 9, starting from 2007, they held roles as a Community Outreach Coordinator and later as the Educational Services Manager until 2014.
In 2008, Antonio worked as a Curriculum Specialist (Contractor) at Experience Music Project, where they developed an online professional development course for K-12 educators. Antonio then served as a Public Speaker at Humanities Washington from 2013 to 2016.
From 2014 to 2019, Antonio Gomez was appointed as the Education Manager at Tacoma Arts Live, where they focused on equity-centered arts education and engagement. Antonio later advanced to the position of Associate Director of Education, where they built economically, geographically, and culturally accessible learning opportunities in various settings, including in-school and informal, out-of-school spaces.
In 2020, Antonio became an Associate Folklorist for the Washington Center for Cultural Traditions at Humanities Washington. Simultaneously, they also had freelance work as an Independent Percussionist and Arts Educator, specializing in Afro-Latin and Mediterranean instrumentation.
Antonio's passion for music and education continued as they served as the Curator and Host of the "Deep Roots, New Branches" series at Early Music Seattle starting in 2021. This series explored the interconnections of cultural traditions and their influences on world music.
Additionally, Antonio Gomez has made important contributions in leadership roles. Antonio became a Board Member at Western Arts Alliance in 2019 and later was elected as the President of the Board of Directors, starting in 2022.

Antonio Gomez earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Double (Spanish & Comparative Sociology) from the University of Puget Sound, which they attended from 1989 to 1993. Antonio later pursued a Master of Arts degree in Education from the University of California, Berkeley, which they completed from 1996 to 1998.
