Mário Ribeiro Alves

Mário Ribeiro Alves has a diverse work experience history. Mário is currently the CEO and Co-founder of LayerX since March 2023. Prior to that, they held the same position at TAIKAI from August 2018. At TAIKAI, they were responsible for executing the company's strategy and vision, with a focus on building a company that stays true to its values and creates an impact on the community. Mário also prioritized putting people first and ensuring efficient allocation of resources and financial health of the company.

Before their role at TAIKAI, Mário served as the CEO of BEPRO Network starting from February 2022. Mário was also a member of the organizing team of ETHPorto, the first ETH event in Porto, where they contributed to organizing talks, workshops, and a hackathon.

In addition, Mário founded Blockchain Center Portugal in March 2018, with the mission to create a local community of Blockchain and Cryptocurrency Professionals and Enthusiasts. Mário aimed to teach and train people on blockchain and cryptocurrencies, and empower companies and individuals to build projects around this technology. Mário held this role until March 2021.

Mário also has experience as an Advisor at BetProtocol and impactMarket in 2018, and as the Head of Business Development and Fundraiser & Advisor at MindProber in 2017.

Prior to these roles, they worked as a Financial Advisor at BiG - Banco de Investimento Global from November 2015 to September 2017. Mário started their career at PwC Portugal, where they held various positions including Transfer Pricing Consultant, Business & Technology Consultant, and Intern from 2013 to 2015.

Mário Ribeiro Alves completed an MBA Summer School program at IESE Business School in 2014. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Economics from FEP U. Porto – Economics and Management, attending from 2008 to 2012. In 2012, they also pursued a minor in Business Administration and Management at Universidad de Zaragoza. In 2017, Mário acquired a certification in Venture Deals from the Kauffman Fellows Academy.
