Jim Shumway

Vice President, Project Delivery at TAIT

Jim Shumway has a diverse work experience spanning multiple roles in various companies. Jim began their career as a Rigger at Blue Man Group in 2005 and later worked as an Assistant Head Rigger and Head Rigger at Cirque du Soleil from 2010 to 2013. Jim then joined TAIT in 2013 and held positions such as Systems Integrator, Project Crew Chief - High Performance Rigging, Tech Lead, Project Manager - High Performance Rigging, and Senior Project Manager. In 2017, Jim also started their own company, Once A Favor, where they served as the Owner. In 2020, they worked as an Adjunct Instructor at Carnegie Mellon University. Currently, they hold the position of Senior Project Director at TAIT.

Jim Shumway attended North Haven High School from 1999 to 2003. Jim then went on to complete their Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in Technical Theatre/Theatre Design and Technology at Emerson College from 2003 to 2007. In terms of additional certifications, they obtained a Private Pilot SEL certification from the Federal Aviation Administration in November 2017. Additionally, Jim Shumway obtained an ETCP - Recognized Trainer certification from ETCP in January 2017. Jim also holds certifications as an ETCP - Arena Rigger, ETCP - Theatre Rigger, IRATA Level 1 from IRATA International, and SPRAT Level 1 from SPRAT, although the dates of obtaining these certifications are not provided.
