James Brown

James Brown has a diverse work experience in the field of HR operations and benefits. James is currently working at Talen Energy as the Director of HR Operations, overseeing the company's benefits, payroll, and HR shared services strategies. Prior to this role, they served as the Senior Manager of HR Operations at Talen Energy, where they led a team of HR professionals and implemented payroll and benefit programs aligned with the company's goals. Before joining Talen Energy, James worked at Dynegy, where they held the position of Benefits Lead and Senior Retirement Analyst. In these roles, they were responsible for designing and managing employee benefit programs, overseeing pension spin-offs, and acting as a subject matter expert for several M&A transactions. Earlier in their career, James worked at Aon Hewitt as a Lead Pension Analyst, where they supervised a team of pension analysts and processors. James also served as a Pension Analyst, reviewing and approving defined benefit calculations and improving the accuracy of system-generated calculations. James began their career as a Financial Specialist Trainee at Wachovia.

James also holds a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Accounting from Prairie View A&M University, earned from 2011 to 2013. In addition to their education, James has obtained several certifications including SHRM - Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) from SHRM in 2021, Certified Employee Benefits Specialist, Group Benefits Associate, and Retirement Plan Associate from Wharton Executive Education in 2017, and Enrolled Agent from the Internal Revenue Service in 2014. James also has a Human Resources Management Certificate from Rice University - Susanne M. Glasscock School of Continuing Studies.
