Henning Schmiedehausen

Advisor to the CTO at Talentspace

Henning Schmiedehausen has extensive work experience in the technology industry, holding various roles in different companies. Starting in 2010, they worked as the Principal Architect at Ness Computing, where they were responsible for setting the overall architecture and scaling of backend systems. Henning also collaborated with the frontend team and the science group, which utilized machine learning. In 2012, they joined Facebook as a Software Engineer, focusing on the data infrastructure team and working on projects such as the Presto distributed SQL query engine. After that, they worked at Groupon as a Principal Engineer and then as a Principal Platform Architect, contributing to the technical direction of the engineering workforce. In 2015, they joined Zuora as the Chief Architect, leading technology transformations across products and engineering and product organizations. Henning initiated and led transitions to cloud and service-based architecture. From 2014 to 2015, they also served as an Advisor to the CTO at Talentspace, and from 2015 to 2021, they were a Member, Vice President, and Board Member at The Apache Software Foundation. In 2021, they held positions as the Chief Architect at Varo Bank and an Executive/Entrepreneur in Residence at Foundation Capital. Currently, they are the Chief Architect at AppFolio, Inc.

Henning Schmiedehausen pursued their education in Computer Science from 1988 to 1996 at FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg. During this period, they obtained a degree in Diplom-Informatiker. In 2004, they also achieved a certification as a RedHat Certified Engineer (RHCE) from RedHat, Inc.
