Jason Toney

Character Designer at Tales

Jason Toney has a diverse work experience in the field of art and illustration. Jason worked as a Freelance Artist at Tales, where they created in-game assets and designed characters, key frame art, cover art, and prop design for multiple titles within the Tales App. Jason also played a lead role in updating the character library, prototype designing new art assets, creating outlines and templates, and testing compatibility with existing assets.

Prior to their role at Tales, Jason was the Owner and Lead Illustrator at Jason Toney Illustration, where they provided freelance illustration and concept art for various clients. Jason created character designs, in-game assets, painted background designs, and cover illustrations for mobile games, as well as illustrations for product labels for Libertine Brewing Co.

In addition, Jason worked as a Gallery Registrar at John Pence Gallery, a renowned academic realist gallery in San Francisco. Jason also participated in various fine art exhibitions.

Jason Toney attended the Academy of Art University from 2006 to 2013, where they earned their Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Illustration. In 2021, Jason enrolled in the Story Artist Mentorship Program to further enhance their skills in storyboarding.
