Chay Austyn Schmitt is an experienced educator currently serving as a Middle School Science Teacher at Ithaca School District since December 2020, teaching Earth Science, Life Science, and Physical/Chemical Science for grades 6 to 8, alongside coaching the Ithaca High School Forensics team. Chay also has experience as a Middle School Reading Teacher, working in Title 1 Reading Intervention, and has taken on multiple roles in educational and service settings, including a Visitor Services Associate and Docent at Taliesin Preservation. Additional roles include Director of a spring One-Act Play at Richland Center High School, engaging in various instructional capacities, and working in customer service and construction. Chay holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay and has pursued further education through ABCTE programs.
