Cynthia Burks

Cynthia Burks has a diverse work experience. Starting in 2010, they held various roles within Genentech/Roche, including Senior Vice President/Chief Human Resources Officer of Genentech. In 2021, they became an investor in Gem and served as a Board Member for Torch. In 2022, they took on advisory positions at Taltrics and Air Protein, where they supported the development of sustainable protein made from CO2. Additionally, Cynthia served as a Board Member for WD40, Inspire Medical Systems, and Sellars, and as a Founding Operator for Coalition Operators' Coalition Network. Cynthia also advised Maze Therapeutics, a biotechnology platform focused on translating genetic insights into new medicines.

Cynthia Burks obtained a J.D. degree in Labor and Employment Law from the University of San Francisco School of Law in the years 2004 to 2008. Prior to that, they earned an MBA in International Business from the Thunderbird School of Global Management in 1998. Cynthia also holds a B.S. degree in Finance from Marquette University. Additionally, they have obtained various certifications including Executive Compensation: Strategies and Frameworks from Wharton Executive Education in 2024, Directors' Consortium from Stanford GSB Executive Education in 2023, Diligent Climate Leadership Certification from Diligent in 2023, Black Corporate Board Readiness from Santa Clara University in 2022, and they are a Licensed Attorney from the State Bar of California since 2008.
