Gideon Gachihi

Chief Clinician and Scientist at Tambua Health

Gideon Gachihi has worked in a variety of roles since 2018. Gideon began their career as a Clinical Officer intern at Thika Level 5 Hospital. In 2018, they also took on the role of Head of Education and Outreach at Cancer Research Kenya, where they conducted cancer sensitization activities, conducted cancer screenings, and sensitized citizens using the organization's social media platforms. In 2019, they became a Medical Trainer at Thika School of Medical and Health Sciences, where they lectured and mentored students in Clinical Medicine, and set and invigilated exams. Gideon also worked as a Clinical Officer at Lifeline Group of Hospitals, clerking and managing patients with chronic and infectious diseases, and performing relevant laboratory investigations and minor surgeries. Additionally, they were a Tutorial Fellow at Mount Kenya University (MKU), lecturing and mentoring students in Diploma Clinical Medicine, setting and supervising exams, and giving clinical instructions to students in the wards. Gideon also worked as a Research Volunteer at Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI), receiving and sorting collected biological samples, analyzing data, and collecting and authenticating data collection forms. In 2020, they became a Course Representative at Queen Mary University of London. Since 2021, they have been a Chief Clinician and Scientist at Tambua Health, and a Lecturer (HND- Oncology and Palliative care) at Kenya Medical Training College. Gideon is also a Youth Rep. in the Cervical Cancer Taskforce of The Commonwealth.

Gideon Gachihi completed a Bachelor's degree in Clinical Medicine and Community Health from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology from 2013 to 2018. Prior to that, they completed their KSCE from Aquinas High School from 2009 to 2012. Gideon is currently enrolled in a Master's degree in Cancer and Clinical Oncology at Queen Mary University of London and is also enrolled in a Master's degree in Public Health at Mount Kenya University - MKU.
