William Martin

Lead Engineer, Data Products at Tamr

William Martin has a diverse work experience that spans across various industries. William is currently employed at Tamr as a Technical Lead DataOps Engineer, a role they have held since February 2022. Prior to this, they worked as a Senior DataOps Engineer at Tamr from April 2021 to February 2022, and as a DataOps Engineer from September 2018 to April 2021.

Before joining Tamr, William worked at Deloitte UK as a Senior Consultant from July 2016 to August 2018. William also has experience as a Research Scientist at BMT, where they conducted collaborative scientific research funded by the European Union. William'sresponsibilities at BMT included proposal writing, project management, and technical execution. William'smajor projects involved machine learning route optimization for the maritime industry, virtual reality simulation for anti-terrorism training, and graph theory for shipping security and social network analysis. William worked at BMT from May 2013 to July 2016.

Prior to BMT, William worked as a Doctoral Researcher at Brunel University/CERN. William'sresearch focused on particle physics, specifically studying the Compact Muon Solonoid (CMS) detector at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). William spent 18 months working at CERN in Switzerland. William'sdoctoral thesis centered on the measurement of the production cross-section for a top quark, a process that was too rare to be measured at the older Tevatron collider experiment. William held this role from March 2009 to April 2013.

William's earliest work experience was at CCFE - Culham Centre for Fusion Energy, where they worked as a Plasma Operations Department Research Placement. During their year-long placement, they focused on the Joint European Torus (JET) experimental fusion reactor and worked on real-time analysis systems to examine reactor vessel conditions. William also designed and produced a residual gas analysis program. William held this role from August 2006 to July 2007.

William Martin completed their education starting in 2004 at the University of Bath, where they pursued a Master of Physics (MPhys) with a research placement in the field of Physics. William successfully finished this program in 2008. Following this, from 2009 to 2013, they attended Brunel University London and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Elementary Particle Physics. In addition to their academic qualifications, in July 2017, they completed the PRINCE2® Foundation and Practitioner Certification Training at Deloitte.
